The Surf Countdown for January 26th proved to be another interesting week. Comparing it to last week, it shows the importance of your weekly vote. A total of 12 songs dropped positions with 7 songs dropping 3 or more positions. 7 songs gained positions from last week with “I’ll Never Let You Go” by BWR&B (Feat Doug Winstead) making the biggest jump with a total of 7 spots from last week. 2 songs made their chart debut. “Don’t Fight It” by Phil Wilson and BWR&B debuted at #21. An overwhelming support of listeners found the ballot this week to put “Runnin’ Blue” by Jimmie Weaver at the #5 Spot on the chart. After a 2 week absence, The Fantastic Shakers were back on the chart with “Freight Train”, a track on the Green Dot Records compilation “The Next Chapter”.
Top Songs 4 Weeks Running
The Coastline Crazies were back this week to vote for their favorite group. After a drop to #3 last week, Jim Quick and Coastline regained the #1 spot this week with “Cleaning Windows”. “Come and Get Your Love” by The Entertainers continues to be a front runner having been in the top 5 for the past 4 weeks. Craig Woolard continued to hold his title of most songs with a total of 4 songs on the chart. Craig has 3 with the Embers and 1 with the Tim Cashion compilation.
Keep Voting at the Website Each Week
I would like to encourage you to take the time to rate each song on the list. If there are songs you aren’t familiar with, look them up or buy the cd and give them a listen as this is a good opportunity to discover new music and support our industry and local artists. We featured some new songs this week including “You Don’t Say” by Phil Wilson which will be on the newest KHP compilation coming out in a couple of weeks; “There Goes My Baby” by Russell Henry (member of Bill Pinkney and the Original Drifters), “Kiss Me” by EnVision from their album “Soul Reloaded” as well as “One More” by the Randy Clay Band.
Thanks to all the Surf Listeners out there that participated this week. Don’t forget voting is now open for next Saturday’s Surf Countdown! Join me every Saturday from 10 to Noon on 949 FM in the Grand Strand area and 949thesurf.com all over the world.
