New Rules for 2022
Beginning this week (Chart on May 28th, 2022), we will be adding some new rules to the Surf Countdown.
- No Artist may have more than 2 songs rank in any given week. The top 2 songs by voting for the artist will be the ones that rank in the top 20.
- Moving forward, we will remove from consideration songs that first charted 12 months or more prior.
- An artist may request to remove an older song so that newer releases can be eligible.
If any artist wants to clarify songs for consideration on the Surf Countdown consideration, please contact Bo the Webguy by sending a text to 843-280-9000 or reach out to bo via facebook
How was the list of songs determined?
The list of songs on the form for weekly voting is based on requests coming in each week to the station. Some requests come in from facebook, email, and call-ins. The DJs at 94.9 The Surf have helped compile this list of songs for the listeners to vote their favorites. This list will change each week with some songs being added and some songs being removed.
When will the results be posted?
The weekly Surf Countdown will air on Saturdays from 10am to 12 Noon. All votes from the previous week from Saturday to Friday will counted to determine the top songs for the week. After the show, the week’s results will be posted here on the SurfCountdown.com website.
What is the voting period?
Typically the voting period for each week’s Surf Countdown will start after the current week’s show is aired on 94.9 The Surf. Votes will be received from Saturday at 12 Noon to Friday at Noon each week.
Can new songs be submitted?
On the voting form there is the option to add additional song with the artist that recorded it. These songs will be reviewed and if enough listeners add that song, it will be added to the list for voting in the next week so that all listeners can rate the song.
The rating scale is 0-10, so what is the total number of songs 20, 40 that will be part of the countdown? A 2 hours show limits the number of songs that can be played.
Rate each song on its own, not against each other. Some will only give a few songs points, while others will rate every song on the list. You may rate multiple songs a 10. while you may choose to not give some songs any points. The calculation adds all the points for each song to determine the order for the show.
How often can you vote? More than one submission from the same source would seem to be a performer popularity contest rather than an accurate assessment of the songs widespread appeal……………
Vote each week. The count completely resets to zero on Saturday at Noon so each week is based on voting for the week. You should be allowed to vote only once each week. I can’t control the person that has more than once email from different locations, but its been pretty good at making sure it is fair and not being manipulated.
I LOVE BEACH MUSIC….
It says you can vote at 12 noon on Saturday. For some reason it says voting is closed and I cannot put my vote in. Is there another place to vote online?
You can now vote for the coming week. It sometimes takes a couple of hours on Saturday before we can get the new form up
Why isn’t there a countdown just to the top 10? Because from 10 to 1 it’s either Band of Oz, Coastline or the Cat 5 band. As much as I like a particular song or 2, it never seems to place high in the countdown(s).
Because this chart is probably the only one that is based on voting. It is calculated by the fans. Those 3 bands seem to have the most active fans.
