Thanks to all of you Surf Listeners that participated in this week’s Surf Countdown. We are only two weeks in and this chart and format have really taken off. There were quite a few changes in the January 12th Surf Countdown; which shows the importance of getting your vote in each week. A total of six songs made their debut this week of which five were by female artists. Congratulations to Sylvia Johns Ritchie, Lesa Hudson, Marsha Morgan, Terri Gore & The Sweet T’s. Congratulations to Steve Owens and Summertime on their Countdown debut. Love continues to be in the air as five of the top ten songs contained “love” in the title. Craig Woolard upheld his reign of having the most songs on the chart which are all on the Embers Feat Craig Woolard album “Together”.
Songs from CD Compilations
Compilation CDs have been very popular in Beach Music offering a number of songs from different artists on the same album. KHP Music had a large share of the chart with a total of nine songs from their compilations “Never Throw Your Dreams Away”, “A Walk On The Boardwalk”, “Carolina Shine” and “Slice of Life”. The 2018 CBMA Compilation of the Year “Tranquil Bay” by Patman and Robin Records made its debut on the chart with “Mixed Emotions” by Lesa Hudson. Lesa was voted 2018 CBMA Female Vocalist of the Year. I look forward to more music coming out this year and watch new releases drop during SOS, it will be interesting to see how the chart and song ratings change over the year.
Voting RESETS to Zero Every Week
Remember, the song count ratings for every song resets back to zero points every week. Previous week’s results do not affect the ranking of the weekly chart. As a result, the chart could see a number of leaps and drops. The largest leap this week belongs to The Holiday Band with their song “Do You Know What I Mean” which jumped eight spots from #25 last week to #17 this week. So as you can see things were shaken up a bit this week but once again a great Countdown thanks to you our listeners. As a reminder, weekly voting opens immediately following the Surf Countdown Show on Saturday until noon on Friday. I look forward to counting them down once again with you next week. You rate ‘em and we play ‘em on the Surf Countdown!
~Mike
